Information on this website, www.legalclinicsinpeel.ca is now only about Mississauga Community Legal Services.
MCLS provides free, confidential legal advice and assistance from lawyers and community legal workers. PHONE FIRST! Advice is usually provided by telephone to start. We can provide better service if you fax or drop off documents before our advice is given.
We provide advice or assistance in the areas that are listed below. If we are unable to help you, we will do our best to refer you somewhere else.
Advice & Representation - Some cases need more than advice. We may provide representation. For example, we may represent you at the Social Benefits Tribunal or the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal. This is determined on a case by case basis.
Advocacy & Public Legal Education - The clinics also provide public legal education and law reform advocacy. Would you like a speaker to come to your next meeting? Give us a call!
Languages - For languages other than English, please try and bring someone with you to translate, or advise us in advance so that we can try to arrange for an interpreter.
Expenses & Financial Eligibility - All services provided by the legal clinics are free. However, the clinic must sometimes pay others for things needed to represent you: for example, doctor’s reports and court filing fees. We may ask that you pay the clinic back for these expenses.
Community Legal Clinics serve low income people. If your income is too high, we cannot assist you, but we will do our best to refer you somewhere else.
